Larry Gurruwiwi is a Yolngu man from the Galpu clan.
He is a keeper of the original Yidaki (didgeridoo) song-lines. He also is the knowledge keeper for the West wind (Barra), Rainbow serpent (Witij) and lightening song-lines.
He lives with his family in Yirrkala, North East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia, where they are still deeply rooted in their cultural lore.
Larry's father is Djalu Gurruwiwi, a world-renowned Galpu elder who spent a lot of time traveling the world and sharing the Yidaki medicine to the people. His mother, Dhopiya Yunupingu, is from the Gumatj clan, keepers of the saltwater crocodile (Baru) and the fire song-lines.
Larry continues to share and express his cultural knowledge and wisdom through song (Manikay). It is his right, through lore, to share with people.
